V-day Date Night

Date 3, or as I like to call it, year 3, is super relaxed. I'm talking not going anywhere, stay at home, pj's and movie night, kinda night. Just because you don't plan on getting off the couch, doesn't mean you can't give you're guy a bit of an upgrade from those ripped sweats and old t's you usually where... I mean... I always dress this cute when lounging around... not! Cute comfy short, check! Silky top, check, cozy blankets (which I love the pattern of!) check! Lots of popcorn, snacks, and your fav. movie... check, check, check! This is going to be my kinda night!

Date 2 is more chill, think fun, bowling, a movie, arcade or just drinks. This works well for a group date too. I went a bit rocker on this with some coloured skinny jeans, and an easy embellished tank. Throw on a patterned scarf simple sexy jewellery and a large tote, and you're looking good! For shoes I went with a bit on a heel here, but it would also work with knee high flats, or even a flat bootie, you know the type of event, dress for whatever's comfy if you'll be doing lots of walking or standing... nothing is less sexy that teetering in heels when you could be having fun! PS I'm also in LOVE with this grey leather jacket! Huge fan of the open collar and the colour is to die for, definitely a softer look than black.

Valentine's Day is just around the corner, and as much as I hate being told that this is THE DAY to show your partner you love them, I do love creating outfits to wear! So the next few posts are some of my fav outfits combos for any type of date night.

Here is the night out... Love the emerald green and plum! Because this outfit doesn't have many different textures or patterns, I wanted to mix two beautiful bold colours. This a symmetrical dress would be flattering on so many body types, and even though it already has a nicely defined waist, I added a skinny belt to really show off the curves and add a bit of detail. With classic accessories and nude pumps, you're good to go!

Cozy Couture

Cozy Couture

Looks like the weather has officially changed, but that's no reason to look frumpy when you're freezing! Layer, layer, layer! Scarves, jackets, and cardigans are your friend again, especially if you're in an office, or workplace with no control over heating! So even though I haven't shown it here, I would throw a great cream coloured cardigan over that blouse and pair a bright, chunky knit infinity scarf to brighten up the grey jacket. I love this little hat for added warmth and a great pair of boots you can actually walk in.

Pumpkin Muffins with Toffee, Walnut Crumble

Tis the season to give into the pumpkin craze! I love it and loathe it, it's so delicious, but I feel like at any moment the clock will hit midnight, and I'll turn into a pumpkin. So indulge before you explode with these fantastic Pumpkin Muffins with Toffee and Walnut Crumble:

  • 1 1/2 C Flour
  • 1 tsp. Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp. Baking Soda
  • 1 tsp. Cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. Ground Ginger
  • 1/2 tsp. Ground Cloves
  • 1/4 tsp. Nutmeg
  • 1 C . Pure Pumpkin Puree
  • 1 1/4 C. Sugar
  • 1/3 C. Oil
  • 1 Eggs
  • 2 Tbsp Mayonnaise (yes, real mayo, not miracle whip or anything like that! makes it super moist)
Whisk together dry ingredients, excluding sugar. In another medium sized bowl add sugar, pumpkin, oil egg and mayonnaise.  PS here's the secret to making any recipe super moist and delicious... mayo... it's just eggs and oil, so there's your tip of the day.

Add pumpkin mixture to flour mixture, stirring just until mixed. Do not over mix. Next make the crumble topping...

  • 1/4 C. Flour
  • 1/4 C. Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. Cinnamon
  • 1/4 C. Chopped Nuts (I used walnuts, but any would work)
  • 1/4 C. Skor Bits
  •  1/4 C. Butter
Mix together all ingredients until crumbly!

Spoon muffin mixture into lightly greased muffin tins, or line with muffin wrappers, until 3/4 full. Top with 1 Tbsp of crumble mixture. Bake at 350* for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the middle come out clean.

Enjoy the pumpkin-y deliciousness until Egg Nog season!

Free Falling

Free Falling

With the splatter of rain against my window and opening my eyes to the darkness that is the morning, I suppose it's time to face the inevitable...  fall is here to stay. And although I've fought my hardest, I'm now ready to embrace the changing season in the only way I know how... clothes! The colours are deepening, and right now leather (or pleather) is super hot, so I've paired this fantastic top (for $20!) with this gorgeous cream skirt (splurge). It's all about balancing spend and save items. This top also transitions well for warm fall days, or the office and cooler weather, when worn under the blazer. Scarves are always my go to, to change the look of an outfit, but more so in fall when you never know what the skies will throw at you. I chose a great plaid to complement the other textures going on here, tweed, leather, and silk, another trick for adding dimension to your look.
Enjoy!
